Coelho-Silva, Débora postdoctoral researcher

postdoctoral researcher

Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC)

Debora is a forest engineer with a master's degree in forest and environmental sciences from the Federal University of Amazonas and a Ph.D. in Forest Sciences from UNESP (Brazil). A specialist in applied silviculture, biotic stress, and wood anatomy, she developed extensive expertise in the Amazon rainforest before pursuing her research in the boreal forest.

At UQAC, her work focuses primarily on the wood anatomy of sugar maple and its implications for maple syrup production and forest management. She also contributes to assisted migration projects for sugar maple and red maple, supporting students studying the resilience and adaptation of these species to climate change. Her approach integrates anatomical knowledge, silvicultural practices, and an understanding of adaptation mechanisms to support sustainable management strategies in an evolving climate context.
